Daochier I Imchen of the BJP won the Koridang bypoll with 7,317 votes. The bypoll was necessitated following the death of veteran legislator Imkong L Imchen, whose long political presence in the constituency has significantly shaped Koridang’s voting pattern over the years.
Independent candidate Major Toshikaba (Retd) emerged as the closest rival, securing 4,194 votes, followed by Independent candidate Imtiwapang with 3,733 votes. NPP candidate Abenjang secured 3,219 votes, while Congress candidate Chalukumba received 144 votes and Independent candidate Imchatoba polled 145 votes. NOTA recorded 78 votes.
Daochier I Imchen’s victory ensures that the BJP retains the Koridang seat, maintaining its tally at 12 in the 60-member Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
