Mokokchung, July 20 (MTNews): The 34th Mokokchung District Badminton Open Championship organized by Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA) got underway at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Mokokchung, with District Forest Officer, Dr. Sentitula, IFS as the special guest on Wednesday.

During a brief exhortation, Dr. Sentitula remarked that the most essential trait in sports and games is not winning or losing, but rather instilling passion and commitment, with a goal-oriented objective, in discipline.

 

She went on to say that sports and education are related, citing the example of a student studying with the goal of obtaining a top position, while a sportsperson plays the sport with the goal of obtaining a top position too, adding that games and sports can be a hobby, but they can also become a career if one has the zeal to be fully committed to achieving the goal.

 

Bendangrenla Imsong chaired the inauguration ceremony, while Noksang Longkumer, Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, delivered the invocation. Martoshi, MDBA president, presented a welcome address where he announced that the winners of the tournament will be selected to represent Mokokchung District in the Inter District Badminton Championship to be held in Longleng in August 2022.

 

A total of 103 players are participating in 30 different age categories, comprising of 32 females and 71 males.

 

The event was also graced with the presence of Sentilong Ozükum, SDO (C) Mokokchung and Mangla Imchen, District Sports Officer Mokokchung
