Gameweek 6 of the Mokokchung Football League for players aged 35 and above saw triumphs for Wasang FC, New Ecclesia FC, and Revenant FC at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Saturday, 11May.
The opening match of the day was played between Terokroker FC and Wasang FC. Repamayang broke the ice with the first goal just a minute into the game, granting Wasang FC an early lead.
However, Imliyapang of Terokroker FC swiftly equalized in the 3rd minute, cementing his position as the league’s top scorer with 7 goals. Akangshilu of Terokroker FC added another goal in the 16th minute, putting Terokroker in the lead momentarily, but Tsupongtsuba’s goal for Wasang FC in the 30th minute leveled the score, ending the first half at level on 2 goals for either sides.
The second half of the match, however, was dominated by Wasang FC as Imliwapang and Chubangangnen scored two quick goals in the 52nd and 55th minutes respectively, bringing the score to 4-2 in favor of Wasang FC by the close of play. This victory marked Wasang FC’s 6th win without any losses, maintaining its position at the top of the league table.
In the second match of the day, New Ecclesia FC clashed with Senso FC. The match was completely dominated by New Ecclesia FC, ending with a commanding 5-0 scoreline. Pangertemsu opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, followed by two goals from Moatemsu Jamir in the 28th and 36th minutes. The second half witnessed an unfortunate own goal by Senso FC in the 48th minute by Takusunep, along with a hat-trick for Moatemsu Jamir in the 56th minute.
In the third match, defending champions Revenant FC secured a crucial 2-0 victory over an underperforming Trebuchet FC. Nokchashilu and Merenchiba found the net in the 1st and 21st minutes respectively, sealing Revenant’s triumph in the match. This win also ensured that Revenant FC remains in contention for the title, as it closely trails table-toppers Wasang FC.
