Gameweek 8 of the 35+ Mokokchung Football League took place at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Saturday, 25 May.

The first match, played between defending champions Revenant FC and New Ecclesia FC, showcased an exciting and competitive game, culminating in a 0-0 scoreline. While New Ecclesia FC was happy to salvage a point from the match, Revenant FC missed the opportunity to narrow the points difference in the title race, remaining in second position behind Wasang FC by just 3 points.

The second match, played between table toppers Wasang FC and Trebuchet FC, also ended in a tie. Repamayang of Wasang FC netted an early goal in the 2nd minute, only to be swiftly equalized by L. Imnayanger of Trebuchet FC in the 5th minute. Trebuchet took the lead with a goal from Shilutsungba in the 42nd minute, but Wasang FC managed to avoid their first loss of the season with a goal from Tsupongtsuba in the 55th minute. The final score was 2-2, marking the first tie for Wasang FC this season. This result meant that Wasang FC failed to widen their lead in the points table, now leading with 22 points, while second-placed Revenant FC has 19 points.

In the third match, Terokroker FC displayed complete dominance against Senso FC, with Imliyapang securing a hat trick and maintaining his position as the top scorer of the 35+ MFL season 5.

Following today’s matches (Gameweek 8), there have been slight changes in the points table. Wasang FC maintains its lead with a total of 22 points, while Revenant FC, with 19 points, struggles to close the gap. With a decisive victory, Terokroker FC has surpassed New Ecclesia, claiming the third position, while New Ecclesia settles for fourth after their draw today. The bottom two positions remain unchanged, with Trebuchet FC holding fifth place and Senso FC at the bottom of the table. Senso FC is yet to secure a single point this season.

Imliyapang of Terokroker FC solidified his position at the top of the score sheet after today’s match, securing a hat trick and bringing his total goals in the league to 10. His closest rivals, Moatemsu Jamir of New Ecclesia and Tsupongtsuba of Wasang FC, trail behind with 6 goals each.
