Loungpai Konyak, the cover candidate for the 41-Tizit AC Congress candidate Er T Thomas Konyak expressed disappointment that DC and DEO Mon had ignored their complaints.

“We have spent so much of our voice and time and still we are here in this pathetic condition,” he expressed in despair.

According to him, they learned from reliable sources that voters in Nokyan village under 41-Tizit AC were denied the right to vote.

“Women and youth voters were not allowed to vote in Nokyan village,” he claimed, adding that those votes were “taken away by others.”

He also stated that the village has 657 voters and that casting the 657 votes was completed by 12:00 noon.

“The EVM machine was supposed to be open until 4:00 pm but they finished voting at 12:00, closed the machine at 2:30, and moved out of the particular station,” he claimed.

He went on to allege that the EVM was taken somewhere and votes cast in favor of other parties.

According to Konyak, the INC polling agent also failed to make a ‘satisfactory signature’ after the poll, which he believes is required and is usually done by polling agents to indicate they are satisfied with the conduct of polling.

“We complained to the district authorities, but they did nothing, and we believe they are in favour of the BJP,” he added.

Yaben, another agent for candidate Thomas Konyak, stated that the party is “unhappy” with ECI’s decision to declare a re-poll only in Jakoba village under 41 Tizit AC.

He reiterated that the youth and women were not allowed to vote in Nokyan village and that there were incidences of booth capturing.

The party had reportedly gone to meet the administration and authorities at the time of filing this report.
