Kohima, 8 March (MTNews): A verification drive was conducted throughout Kohima District from 6 to 8f March 2024 by a Task Force team comprising District Administration and Police to identify illegal immigrants and Inner Line Permit (ILP) defaulters.
During the verification process, instances of expired ILP permits and individuals without ILP permits were identified, leading to the imposition of penalties in accordance with sections (2), (3), and (4) of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) 1873.
A total of 495 ILP defaulters were identified within Kohima District, with 308 found in the Kohima Town area, 59 in Chiephobozou sub-division, and 128 in Sechü Zubza subdivision. The imposed penalties amounted to a total of Rs 215400, which has been deposited as Government revenue. The Task Force will continue to conduct periodic checks to detect illegal immigrants and ILP defaulters within Kohima District.
