Wokha, 18 November (MTNews): The Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies in Wokha, Nagaland, hosted the 70th All India Cooperative Week Celebration 2023 with the theme ‘Role of Cooperatives in making India a $5 trillion Economy and SDGs’ at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Wokha on November 18, 2023.
Addressing the gathering as the guest of honour, K Furhesie Nyuwi, ADC Hq Wokha, emphasized that the achievements and success stories of Cooperative Societies reflect the economic well-being of a state or nation. He urged Cooperative Societies to move beyond existing on paper and to operate with credibility, commitment, and dedication, fostering a work culture and creating opportunities.
In his welcome address, ARCS Wokha, Obendangba, highlighted that Wokha district boasts more than 600 Cooperative Societies, uniting individuals voluntarily to advance their economic interests through collaborative efforts. He encouraged them to persistently work hard and strive to achieve their set objectives.
T Alanthung Ngullie, SRCS Wokha, in his keynote address, stressed that the week-long celebration provides an opportunity for Cooperatives to showcase their success stories, project achievements, and outline a future action plan. The goal is to promote Cooperative development and raise awareness among the public through workshops, seminars, and related activities in line with the theme, ‘Cooperatives in making India a $5 trillion Economy and SDGs.’
The Secretary of the Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society, MPCS Ltd. Agri Colony, Wokha, Sulanthung N Ngullie, expressed gratitude for the support from ARCS Wokha and the manager of Cooperative Bank, Wokha. He highlighted the progressive activities of the society, including fish farming, operating a fabrication shop, establishing rubber and beetle nut plantations, and operating a Common Service Centre (CSC) through Digital India.
The event witnessed the participation of over 100 Cooperative Society members.
