TN Mannen addressing the 71st general conference of Asetkong Mungdang on January 17 at Kubolong, Mokokchung.

Addressing the conference on Friday, Advisor Mannen reflected on the past prominence of the Asetkong range, which he said had excelled in many aspects despite its smaller population. However, he noted that this position has diminished in recent years. He attributed the decline to “political alliance” practices and suggested a return to the earlier norm of maintaining a common platform for unity and collaboration. He stressed that unity is the cornerstone for resolving every issue and creating a stronger, more progressive Asetkong range.

Addressing the issue of rising unemployment among the youth, Advisor Mannen highlighted the need for collective support from the community to recognize and nurture the talents of young people. He urged the people of Asetkong to empower the youth by encouraging self-employment and creating opportunities for them to thrive.

Mannen also emphasized that with the right support and opportunities, the youth could bring transformative change to society, leading to a brighter future for the Asetkong range and its people.

Earlier, on January 16, Dr Moa Jamir addressed the conference as the main speaker. During the conference, new office bearers for 2025-2027 tenure were elected.

Takoyanger (Kubolong) and Kilangwapang (Kubolong) were reelected as Finance Secretary and Treasurer, respectively.

A key highlight of the conference was the adoption of a resolution, as proposed by the main speaker, Dr Moa. The resolution calls for the formation of a planning committee to begin preparations for the centennial celebration of the Asetkong Mungdang, established 1932. Reviewing the Mungdang’s constitution and progress of Asetkong headquarters Kubolong were the other two resolutions adopted.
