Speaking at the event, Metha described Nagaland as a small yet significant state, often referred to as the “land of festivals.” He highlighted its rich cultural diversity, home to 17 tribes and numerous sub-tribes, and its contributions to India’s nation-building. Metha noted that for over six decades, Nagaland has supported India by producing brave soldiers who guard the nation’s borders and athletes who represent the country on global stages.

Metha also reflected on Kohima’s historic importance, as it was the site of one of the greatest battles of World War II. He reminded the audience that the stadium’s location was once part of the battlefield where forces from Japan, Britain, and the Allies fought to alter the course of history. Metha extended best wishes to all participants and team managers, emphasizing the role of sports in teaching discipline, commitment, and hard work.

He encouraged players to aim high, respect the game, and honor those who support their journey. Metha also urged the athletes to be ambassadors for Nagaland, showcasing its warm hospitality and the unifying spirit of sports.

Advisor for Youth Resources & Sports, Keoshu Yimkhiung, praised the event as a celebration of sports and a testament to the dedication and potential of youth. He described Sepak Takraw as an art form blending grace, power, precision, and strategy, requiring both physical agility and mental coordination. Yimkhiung encouraged participants to shine on the national stage, representing their schools, families, and communities with pride.
