The 6th Dimapur District Inter-Departmental Sports Meet 2024 concluded on November 22 at the Multi Complex Stadium, Dimapur, celebrating unity and sportsmanship among government departments. Organized by the Government of Nagaland, the event underscored camaraderie, teamwork, and fitness within the public sector.
Kevithuto Sophie, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, attended the closing ceremony and highlighted the significance of such initiatives in fostering collaboration among departments while encouraging healthy lifestyles.
“Everybody is a winner,” Sophie remarked, emphasizing participation over competition. He advocated for making the event an annual tradition to strengthen relationships and mutual support among public servants.
Acknowledging the critical role of government employees, Sophie encouraged participants to value their contributions to Dimapur’s development. “With our unique responsibilities, we are all important in our roles. Together, we can serve the public and Dimapur effectively,” he stated.
The Medical Department emerged as the champion of the meet, with the Power Department and Geological and Mining Department securing second and third places, respectively.
Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr Tinojongshi Chang (NCS), and the organizing committee expressed gratitude to all participants for their enthusiastic involvement, which contributed to the event’s success.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Zakabo Rotokha, in his vote of thanks, praised the dedication of the organizers and teams, expressing optimism that next year’s event would be even more successful.
