Mokokchung, November 21 (MTNews): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Monday said that the 10-Point Commitment of Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) adopted during the sesquicentennial celebration of Christianity in Nagaland is a “reflection of the present disorderly situation that shames our Christian State.”

NPCC president K Therie said in a press release that it is also a call for Naga people to work for greater unity and better understanding amongst various groups of people through cessation of selfish pursuits and conflicts that divide and damage the historical harmony of Nagas.

Saying that the 10-Point Commitment of NBCC is addressed to politicians and government employees, Therie said, “It is with deep concern. All they want is politicians and government employees to change.” Therie also said that there is no point that can be ignored and that it is also a call to all sections of the people of Nagaland.

“Today with 95% Christian rural population we celebrate 150 years of Christianity. As a layman Christian, deep in my heart I feel unqualified to celebrate for I believe one can celebrate only when one is satisfied with performance,” Therie added.

He also said that Nagaland is known as a “Christian State by even BJP and RSS” but regretted that “Nagaland has many Judas Iscariots.”

“The Church wants us to stand true to apostolic faith deep rooted in the Bible and strong in the foundational doctrinal affirmations. To actively participate in the task of caring for God’s creations, taking our duty and privileges as custodians of the earth seriously and working towards retaining the original state of goodness is of utmost importance,” the NPCC president said, and added that he hopes the “deliberation will strengthen us all.”
