The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Mokokchung celebrated its Advent Christmas program at the Institute’s Auditorium on Friday.

Sungtimenla, Senior Lecturer DIET, described Christmas as a nostalgic sensation in the hearts of the people decorating houses and sharing meals in her Christmas greeting. She shared a narrative about the Christian life and remarked, “We claim we are enjoying Christmas, but often times without the presence of Jesus Christ.”

“As our attention is drawn to material pleasures, we lose sight of God in our midst,” she said. Referencing 1st John 4:7 from the Bible, she stated love comes from God and added, “Worldly love is conditional, but God’s love is unconditional.”

She continued by saying that God sent his only Son, as a human, to embrace his people. She claimed that it is the greatest gift that God has given to humankind and that it embodies the beauty of love. Forgiveness, healing, victory, and redemption entered our lives as a result of God’s selfless love.

She told the gathering that the true meaning of Christmas is “Love” and urged everyone to forgive one another, let go of past wrongs, enjoy the splendor of the season of Love, and welcome God’s presence.
