Chuchuyimlang, January 10 (MTNews): MLA & Advisor for Industries & Commerce, Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt of Nagaland, Imnatiba inaugurated the 33rd edition of the Langpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (LKM) Sports Meet on Tuesday at Chuchuyimlang playground.
Describing sports as a major industry today, Imnatiba while speaking at the inaugural said that sports should be pursued as a profession and for its health benefits, and not just as a hobby.
He also cited various initiatives of the state government for the promotion of games and sports in Nagaland. Organizing the Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games, hosting the South Asian Cross Country Championships, and improved medal haul at the North East Olympic Games 2022 Meghalaya were some of the developments he highlighted. While patronizing the government’s initiatives, he asked the gathering to weigh how Mokokchung district was faring in games and sports.
He also stated that the Naga people are naturally talented in games and sports. However, he asked athletes to stay away from unhealthy food and intoxicants and to pursue sports with dedication.
He also expressed hope that there will be peace and unity as well as some tangible development through the 33rd LKM Sports Meet.
President of Chang Students’ Conference, Pongsu; Langpangkong Senso Telongjem Mokokchung president Imlimatsüng; Chuchuyimlang Riongsanger Putu Menden elder Tsükjemtangit Tatar; LKM president Washimong Sadem Longkumer; LKM Sports Secretary Kilangnukshi Imsong; and former LKM president Imnakika also spoke at the event. The sports meet will conclude on January 13.
