Mokokchung, February 14 (MTNews): Mokokchung Police personnel on Monday arrested 6 persons and seized 6 vehicles carrying a total of 153 cases of illicit Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) at NH-2 (erstwhile NH-61).
According to police sources, a Special Operation Team (SOT) acting on information received from a reliable source of some small vehicles transporting illicit IMFL “laid a trap” during which 6 vehicles were intercepted near Mongsemyimti compound at around 1630 hrs on Monday.
Upon searching the 6 vehicles, a liquor consignment amounting to a total of 153 cases of MC Rum was recovered from the 6 vehicles, the police said. The persons involved were apprehended and produced at PS 1 Mokokchung along with the seized liquor and vehicles.
Police officials revealed that a Suo Motto FIR was lodged. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
The seized vehicles, quantity of IMFL and persons apprehended included: NL07-CB-3692 Bolero, 192 bottles of MC Rum (750ml each) was seized from Sentiyanger Ozukum. NL05-1386 Gypsy, 324 bottles of MC Rum (750ml each) was seized from Molongba Lemtur. NL07-CB-8802 Bolero, 360 bottles of MC Rum (750ml each) was seized from Sashinungdang Jamir. NL10-9931 Innova, 336 bottles of MC Rum (750ml each) was seized from Temjenzulu Longkumer. NL07-CB-5224 Bolero, 288 bottles of MC Rum (750ml each) was seized from Nungsangmanen Ozukum. NL07-CB-8045 Bolero, 336 Bottles of MC Rum (750ml each) was seized from Meyingangan Ozukum.
