Japukong and Tzürangkong Senso Sendens call for dialogue over Multipurpose Hall controversy
The Japukong Senso Senden (JSS) and Tzürangkong Senso Senden (TSS) have opposed the ultimatum issued by the Civil Society Organisation (CSO), Mangkolemba, demanding the resignation of Nagaland Minister Temjen Imna Along over the controversy surrounding the construction of the Multipurpose Hall at Mangkolemba.
In separate press releases issued on October 7 and October 11, respectively, the two organizations termed the demand for the minister’s resignation inappropriate and called for constructive dialogue to address the concerns surrounding the project.
The Japukong Senso Senden said issues concerning public infrastructure and community welfare should be addressed through constructive dialogue and practical suggestions rather than ultimatums.
It maintained that such demands would neither serve the public interest nor contribute to finding long-term solutions.
Echoing a similar position, the Tzürangkong Senso Senden said the demand for the minister’s resignation was not an appropriate course of action for addressing concerns surrounding the construction of the Multipurpose Hall.
The TSS also expressed confidence in Along’s leadership, stating that voters of the 30 Alongtaki Assembly Constituency had elected him for consecutive terms and that public trust in him continued.
The organization further questioned the appropriateness of people outside the constituency issuing ultimatums demanding the resignation of the elected representative of Alongtaki.
The controversy follows the Mangkolemba CSO’s October 3 ultimatum seeking the resignation of the minister over issues related to the Multipurpose Hall project. The dispute has also involved questions concerning the project’s nomenclature, location and official records.
Both organizations appealed to all concerned parties to rise above political considerations and work towards a mutually acceptable solution through cooperation and collective responsibility.
The Tzürangkong Senso Senden reiterated its confidence in the minister and called for a peaceful and responsible approach to resolving the matter.
