Mokokchung, February 26 (MTNews): Just hours ahead of the election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nagaland, V Shashank Shekhar has appealed to all the electors to cast their vote “without fear or undue influence” and to conduct the election in a free, fair and peaceful manner.

 

The CEO in a message said that the polling for General Election to Nagaland Assembly, 2023, will be from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM on 27 February 2023. “In this regard, I appeal to all the electors to cast their vote without fear or undue influence,” he said.

 

“It is your legitimate right to cast your vote with the spirit of one man one vote. There should not be any malpractices/disturbance/violence etc. during the polling hour so as to conduct the election in a free, fair and peaceful manner,” the CEO also said.

 

The CEO further said that one may contact their BLO for any assistance regarding polling station location, voter slip, and document required.

 

Stating that ethical voting must be maintained throughout the polling process, the CEO also requested all the Presiding Officers and Polling Officers to discharge their duties and responsibilities as per rules and maintain Law and Order inside the polling station as well as in the catchment area of their polling station.”

 

“The State of Nagaland is going for polling on 27th February 2023, to constitute the 60 Members of the State Legislative Assembly with a total Electorate of 13,16,064. It is my fervent appeal to all the electors to exercise their voting right and uphold the democratic principle of the nation,” he said.

 

“It is a proud moment for every citizen of Nagaland to exercise his/her vote in the General Election to Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2023. I wish all the best to all the DEO’s, RO’s, ARO’s, Polling Officials, Law Enforcement Agencies and other related Election Officials, Voters etc. Let this election be conducted in the true spirit of democracy,” the CEO added.
