Mokokchung, March 2 (MTNews): Day 3 of the 6th Master Shield Trophy 2022 organized by the Mokokchung District T20 Cricket Federation (MDT20CF) at Assam Rifle Ground, Mokokchung witnessed Rangers XI Cricket Club take on Sovran Cricket Club and Sport Fit Cricket Club go up against Trebuchet Cricket Club.
Rangers XI CC and Sovran CC played the first match of the day where Rangers XI won the toss and elected to bat first. Himanshu and Bideshi top-scored posting 33 and 19 runs respectively adding to the total of 116 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs for the Rangers side. While Sovran’s Dipankar and Mayangtoba gave immense pressure collecting crucial 4 and 2 wickets and giving off just 28 runs in 7.2 overs during the first inning.
Despite an impressive run chase by Romokhon and Andrew for the Sovran side, posting impressive 35 and 30 runs respectively, the team lacked behind in contributing to the total score ending their inning with 108 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Rangers trio of Himanshu, Bideshi, and Sanjay played a vital role in the second inning collecting 2 wickets each. Rangers Himanshu was declared the Man of the Match as Rangers XI won the match by 8 runs.
The second match of the day saw a one sided game between Sport Fit CC and Trebuchet CC. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Sport Fit knocked an imposing total of 166 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs with half century contribution of 63 runs from Renjamo and 29 runs from Chonben. Meanwhile, Ajay and Chubaodang collected 1 wicket each for the Trebuchet side.
Anoksangba and Temsulemba led the run chase posting 18 and 19 runs respectively but were unable to give a scare to the Sport Fit side as they ended the match in 14.3 overs with just 86 runs on the board. Thungchamo and Mathung showed quality bowling during the early dismissals of the Trebuchet side taking 3 wickets each in the second inning.
Sport Fit’s Renjamo was declared Man of the Match as Sport Fit won the match by a huge margin of 80 runs.
