C-Edge College, Chümoukedima celebrated its 12th Freshers Meet on July 12, 2024, following a week of various events culminating in the fresher’s day.
The day comprised introductory and grooming sessions, a talent round, ethnic day with a question-answer session. The Freshers Meet commenced with an invocation by Lunyanla of BA V Semester and a welcome speech by the College President, Er Moa Aier.
This was followed by a rendition of the College song “Believe in Him” by the College Choir. Vitinali of BA III Semester chaired the entire program.
The event was graced by S Keoshu Yimkhiung, Advisor , Youth Resources & Sports. In his speech, he reminded students about the rise of educated unemployment in Nagaland, stressing that opportunities are scarce in the government sector, and success requires extra effort. He emphasized the importance of self-reliance, encouraging students to start enterprises or become entrepreneurs, rather than relying solely on the government. He urged students to change their mindset and create opportunities not only for themselves but also for others.
Dr Chubatola Aier, the Principal, presided over the College Awards and briefly explained the various awards. She announced that due to scheduling conflicts with result declarations and the Freshers Meet, the Laurel Awards and other merit awards would be presented separately. Consequently, only the Star and Best Star Attendance awards were conferred. The event featured speeches by Abigail Assumi of BA I Semester representing the freshers, and Tansola of BBA V Semester representing the seniors.
The program also included student performances showcasing their talents. Hoto I Assumi of BBA I Semester and Bendangsenla Alinger of BA I Semester were crowned Mr & Ms Freshers respectively. Subtitles for Best Ethnic and Talent were also awarded. The Freshers Meet 2024 concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Aloka Chishi, Assistant General Secretary of CEC Students Forum.
