The second day of the 2nd NECDC Senior Men’s Interstate Friendship Tournament 2024 delivered intense cricket action, as Meghalaya and Sikkim secured decisive victories in their respective matches. The games, held at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium and Sovima Cricket Ground, witnessed standout individual performances that steered their teams to commanding wins.

Meghalaya crushes Arunachal Pradesh by 111 runs
At the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Meghalaya overpowered Arunachal Pradesh with a comprehensive 111-run victory. The highlight of the match was Wallambok Nongkhlaw’s stellar century, scoring 105 runs off 110 balls, a knock that propelled his team to a formidable total of 312 all out in 46.2 overs.

Despite the efforts of Arunachal’s Likha Sonia, who claimed 3 wickets for 49 runs, and NDR’s 3/54, Meghalaya’s batting depth proved too much. Arunachal Pradesh, in response, could only manage 201/6 in their allotted 50 overs. Techi Doria was the lone warrior for Arunachal with a gritty 89 off 167 balls, but the target proved insurmountable.

Sylvester Mylliempdah led Meghalaya’s bowling attack with figures of 2/18, ensuring that Arunachal never threatened to chase down the target. Nongkhlaw was named Player of the Match for his match-winning century.

Sikkim dominates Mizoram with a 158-run victory
At Sovima Cricket Ground, Sikkim registered a thumping 158-run win over Mizoram, largely due to Ankur Malik’s remarkable bowling display. Malik ripped through Mizoram’s batting lineup, taking 6 wickets for just 18 runs, and was rightfully awarded the Player of the Match.

Batting first, Sikkim posted a competitive total of 228/6 in 50 overs, thanks to Palzor Tamang’s unbeaten 53 off 46 balls and Ashish Thapa’s solid 44 off 58. Mizoram’s Alfred Hmangaisang Hmar did his best with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 42 runs, but his side faltered during their chase.

Mizoram’s innings never got going, as they were bundled out for a mere 70 runs in 34 overs. Rohan was the only notable contributor with 23 runs off 38 balls, but the combined brilliance of Malik’s six-wicket haul and Sikkim’s disciplined bowling left Mizoram with no answers.

Match Summary:
Sikkim: 228/6 in 50 overs
Top Scorers: Palzor Tamang 53* (46), Ashish Thapa 44 (58)
Best Bowler (Mizoram): Alfred Hmangaisang Hmar 3/42
Mizoram: 70 all out in 34 overs
Top Scorer: Rohan 23 (38)
Best Bowler (Sikkim): Ankur Malik 6/18
