The Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU) has strongly condemned the shooting incident that occurred on the night of January 24, 2025, at the District Forest Office, Zunheboto. In the incident, a miscreant reportedly fired at the vehicle of a subordinate of Obed Bohovi Swu, District Forest Officer (DFO), which was parked within the office premises.
In a statement, ZRSU expressed, “Such an act of violence is unacceptable and threatens the safety of public servants who are dedicated to serving the community. We urge the authorities to ensure that the culprit is held accountable under the law and that justice is served promptly.
Acts of violence like this undermine peace and stability, and they must be dealt with firmly.”
The students’ union also commended the police for their swift action in responding to the incident.
“ZRSU sincerely appreciates the swift action taken by the police in responding to this incident. Their prompt efforts in addressing the situation have restored confidence in the community and reinforced the importance of maintaining law and order,” the statement added.

Extending their solidarity to Obed Bohovi Swu and his team, ZRSU stated, “We stand with the DFO, Zunheboto Division, his team, and all public servants working for the welfare of the people. We also call upon every right-thinking citizen to work together to reject violence and create a peaceful and safe environment for everyone.”
The union concluded by urging the community to remain united in upholding justice and peace. “Let this incident remind us of the need for unity and cooperation to uphold justice and peace in our society,” ZRSU emphasized.
