Demands tabling of SIT report; Not to participate in any national event
Mon, April 3 (MTNews): The Konyak Union has resolved to abstain from attending the consultative meeting convened by the state government on Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 slated to be held on April 4.
The Konyak Union said that while it steadfastly upholds its stance for justice for Oting victims, “the delay & denial attitude of the Government,” is like justifying the action of killing the 14 innocent youths that were “massacred in quest for rank and medals.” KU noted that if such is the policy of the Nation, then the fate of its citizens is at stake.
KU said that the Konyaks, who suffered at ground zero, had waited on various actions initiated by the Government where a committee on AFSPA and SIT was constituted whose reports are “still latent” ignoring the Konyaks.
Equating “compensation and development” as nothing but “appeasing the ailing man with sweets,” KU said that the SIT report had not been tabled before the public domain yet, nor is the state Government taking any action to bring to justice.
KU said demanded that all jawans and officers involved in the killing of 14 youths must be booked under applicable civil court of law and action taken report must be brought before public domain. “If such action is not meted out today, then tomorrow it could be you and me. The nation must never watch in silence where atrocities over innocent citizens are being carried out the Indian armed forces are made immune to such crime.”
KU further demanded the removal of AFSPA. “It is purely a violation of human rights when the Indian armed forces instead of targeting the insurgents target the innocent citizen, where the innocents are being victimized,” it said.
The Konyak Union also questioned the Government as to why AFSPA is being enforced in a region where the citizens do not pay any tax to any Naga Political groups.” The bold efforts and steps taken up by the Konyaks, if ignored, may let lose which may cradle numerous elements that defies peace existence in the State as well as the Nation,” KU said.
TABLE SIT REPORT: The KU said that the State Government must table the SIT report before the public domain where “truth should be unearthed, not just pitiful ex-gratias.”Otherwise, the State Government must come out clean by openly denying justice against the Oting Massacre, KU said.
KU said that, considering the stand of the Konyaks at ground zero and while contemplating upon the inattentive response from the Government, it has resolved to abstain from attending the 4th April Consultative meeting convened by the State on AFSPA.
NO PARTICIPATION IN ANY NATIONAL EVENT: Konyak Union further declared that until justice is delivered on the Oting Massacre incident/atrocities committed by the 21 para commandos, the Konyak Union shall steadfastly stick to its declared stance. i.e “No Konyak shall participate in any national event celebration and shall also continue to uphold its noncooperation stance against the Indian Armed forces for infinity.
KU condemns Chasa firing
The Konyak Union also condemned the “barbaric and inhuman action of the 12 para military force” that took place on 2nd April 2022 in Chasa village, Arunachal Pradesh, where two innocent youths were shot at “while the northeastern regions in particular and the rest of the world in general is in uproar and condemnation seeking justice for 4th Dec 2021 Otingmassacre.” KU said that the Indian military force have “gone too far disrespecting the sentiments of the people” who are aspiring for a peaceful atmosphere.
