Phek | 20 March(MTNews): Phek Government College, in collaboration with the National Oral Health Program (NOHP) and the National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP), organized a program on World Oral Health Day, held on March 20th, 2025, under the theme ‘A Happy Mouth is a Happy Mind’ within the college premises.


Dr. Pfukrolo Koza, District Nodal Officer for NOHP & NTCP, illuminated the connection between oral health and mental well-being. He emphasized how poor oral health can detrimentally affect personality traits such as self-esteem, mental state, and social interactions, in addition to causing financial implications. Dr. Koza stressed that a lifetime of proper oral hygiene significantly enhances quality of life.

He also discussed dental anatomy, stages of oral treatment, recommended preventive measures, and common causes of dental diseases. Highlighting the increasing impact of tobacco use in Nagaland, he underscored its link to oral cancer and stressed the importance of community awareness.

The program was highly successful, with free oral kits distributed to all participants, including college faculty and students.
