During a Zero Hour discussion in the Lok Sabha on February 11, 2025, Member of Parliament S Supongmeren Jamir called on the Central Government to establish full-fledged office spaces and deploy adequate officers at the MSME-Development and Facilitation Offices (DFOs) in the North Eastern Region (NER), including Nagaland.

In response, the Ministry has acknowledged the concern and assured that 11 Deputy Directors recently promoted to the Joint Director level would soon be posted to strengthen the offices. The Ministry also confirmed that recruitment for Assistant Director Grade-I and Grade-II positions is currently underway through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), with new officers expected to join by June 2025.

The Ministry further stated that these newly promoted and recruited officers would be deployed to enhance the MSME ecosystem in the North East, strengthening the DFOs in the region.

The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) extended its gratitude to Jamir for his consistent efforts in advocating for the developmental needs of the North East at the national level. The NPCC expressed that this intervention is a clear example of how the Congress Party continues to fight for equitable development in the region.

The NPCC also acknowledged the prompt response from the Ministry and urged it to ensure that the assurance is fulfilled in a timely manner. They emphasized the need for the long-neglected MSME infrastructure in Nagaland and the North East to receive the attention and support it rightfully deserves.
