Development is necessary for individuals and nations alike in all aspects, and for this development to occur, science and technology must work together. For any economy to succeed, especially in today’s pursuit of knowledge-based economies, science, technology, and engineering are essential. Nations that fail to integrate science and technology into their development strategies are likely to remain underdeveloped. Science and technology are deeply connected to modernity and are critical tools for rapid progress. The modernization of all aspects of life is a prime example of how science and technology have been implemented across nations. The introduction of modern technology in daily life has simplified many tasks, and this has been made possible only by the combined use of science and technology. Without modern equipment in sectors like medicine, infrastructure, aviation, electricity, information technology, and more, the advancements and benefits we enjoy today would not exist.
A nation that cannot thrive on the basis of science and technology risks being unable to sustain its own growth and may have to rely on other nations for essential resources. This highlights the significant role science and technology play in national development. For any country to progress, the integration of science and technology is essential. Over the years, villages have transformed into towns, towns into cities, and cities into sprawling metropolises, all due to the expansion of science and technology. This growth will only continue in the coming years. Currently, countries are classified as developed or developing, largely based on their economic status and the application of science and technology. A closer look reveals that countries with strong foundations in science and technology have progressed at a much faster rate. Examples include Russia, Japan, Brazil, China, and others. These countries, which once had poor policies, lacked discipline, and were underdeveloped, have experienced remarkable progress due to the effective use of science and technology.
The impact of science and technology on improving living conditions globally is clear, but all countries must fully harness these benefits. Advances in medicine and disease analysis have made life easier and better. In addition to medicine, remarkable progress has been made in fields like education, communication, agriculture, and industry. However, despite progress in many sectors, the world still faces challenges like hunger, disease, pollution, illiteracy, and poverty. The gap between the rich and the poor has grown wider. With the right application of research, development, and the strategic use of science and technology in the 21st century, significant progress can be made. It is clear that a nation’s development and prosperity are largely determined by the state of science and technology in that country. A society that is not scientifically advanced is considered underdeveloped in all sectors. This is evident when comparing countries like Japan, which invests heavily in research and development and ranks among the most developed nations, with countries like Nepal, which invests little in research and development and remains underdeveloped. Without the proper application of science and technology, no nation can progress. All countries that were once considered underdeveloped have now proven their potential, and much of their success is attributed to their embrace of science and technology.
As citizens of a nation, it is our responsibility to provide youth with the resources they need to pursue research and innovation. We must support and encourage them, as the future of our nation rests in their hands, and they have the potential to advance our country beyond its current state.
