In what can be defined as a watershed moment in the history of music in Nagaland, local band ‘About Us’ has signed a record deal with Frontiers Records Srl, Naples, Italy on April 8, 2022. This was disclosed by the band’s manager, Edward Ngullie, to Mokokchung Times today.

 

Frontiers Records Srl is known for promoting big names like Mr. Big, Def Leppard, Extreme, White Snake, Michael Kiske, Stryper and White Lion to name a few. ‘About Us’ is the first band from Nagaland and only the second in India after ‘Girish and The Chronicles’ to have signed a deal with the international label.

 

“It is beyond our expectation. We are quite surprised but much proud of what the band has achieved. We are looking forward to making more music,” said Edward to Mokokchung Times who is in Mokokchung as part of the delegation for the ongoing Dr. T. Ao Trophy.

 

‘About Us’ is an Indian ‘Experimental Melodic Hard Rock’ band based in Nagaland formed in the winter of 2019 who debuted with their single ‘Loaded Love’ on December 21, 2020.
Currently, the band lineup is as follows: SochanKikon on vocals, Renlamo, Soren and Ponn on guitars, Renbomo on keyboard and the newest member, Yanithung on drums who is also a drums tutor in Bravo School of Music, Wokha. The band has K. Edward Ngullie taking the role of the band’s manager who even contributes in song writing.

 

The band, who earlier planned on a tour to Mokokchung in March shared their regrets for failing to make it happen as they couldn’t manage to find an organizer.

 

“We needed someone to organize the concert but unfortunately things didn’t work out. However, we shall be doing a tour starting in Kohima probably from May 27,” Edward informed.
Speaking about Mokokchung, he expressed his fondness for Mokokchung and the band’s wishes to perform in the district someday soon.

 

“A district tour without Mokokchung feels incomplete. We really want to perform in Mokokchung where Rock n Roll music was born,” he said.

 

With the members coming from varied musical backgrounds, the band engages themselves with a lot of genres and identifies as a melodic hard rock band. The band has given hits such as ‘gimmegimme’ and ‘Right Now’.

 

However, the journey to success didn’t come easy. Their debut single ‘Loaded Love’ initially received mixed response but the band quickly redeemed themselves with their comeback ‘gimmegimme’ which was declared an instant hit all over the state and beyond, reaching almost half a million views within a short time.

 

Wrapping up a busy 2021, the band released their first self-titled album and their second music video “Right now” on December 18, 2021.

 

The band has further informed their fans and listeners that all of their songs and videos have been temporarily deleted from streaming sites for the time being as the label will be re-releasing worldwide in a few months’ time.

 

Currently, as part of the agreement, the band is busy with their acoustic version of their original, exclusively for Japan, which according to Edward, will be completed in a week or so.
