The Mokokchung Police has issued a public appeal urging residents of the district to cooperate in efforts to combat the rising menace of drug and substance abuse, as well as peddling activities.
In a press release, the police acknowledged the challenges faced in tackling this growing social issue, noting that despite proactive measures, progress has often been limited due to a lack of “actionable intelligence.”
According to the release, a total of five criminal cases were registered across various police stations in Mokokchung during the month of May 2025. These include two cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, one case under the Information Technology (IT) Act, one case of kidnapping, and one case of theft.
The police have appealed to all law-abiding citizens to actively participate in the fight against substance abuse. It went on to say that individuals with information on drug transportation or peddling are encouraged to contact any police officer or the nearest police station. The identity of informants will not be disclosed under any circumstances, the police assured.
“Cooperate with the Police and save our generation,” the statement concluded.
