A Maruti-800 car caught fire on DC Hill Road in Mokokchung town at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Saturday.
Preliminary assessment suggests the fire may have originated from a battery malfunction or an electrical short circuit.
The quick intervention of a nearby shop employee prevented the incident from escalating. A staff member of Design Lounge, located close to the scene, promptly used a fire extinguisher to douse the flames before they could spread.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
