The Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung has issued a public advisory based on weather updates from the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, warning that Mokokchung district is likely to experience heavy precipitation in the hill sector from September 16 to 18, 2025. The forecasted rainfall could cause inundated waterlogging, flash floods, landslides, and rising water levels in rivers and streams across the district.

As a precautionary measure, the general public has been advised to avoid vulnerable spots such as landslide-prone areas and to refrain from movement or overnight stays along riverbanks for activities like picnics or fishing. People have also been cautioned against taking shelter under large trees during the period of heavy rainfall.

The advisory urged residents to stay alert while travelling on hill roads, to watch out for cracks on road surfaces or slopes, and to immediately inform authorities if such warning signs are observed.

Locals have also been advised to be vigilant during continuous damp weather and to move away from potential landslide or debris flow paths. Warning signs include unusual sounds indicating the movement of debris, cracking trees, rolling boulders, sudden surges in stream water levels, or a sudden change from clear to muddy water.

All administrative officers, heads of departments, Village Disaster Management Authorities (VDMAs), village council chairmen, head GBs, GBs, and ward authorities have been directed to take precautionary measures and remain on high alert to respond to any emergencies caused by natural calamities during the monsoon period.
