In a thrilling quarterfinal clash of the ongoing 25th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2025 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, Nagaland United Sporting Club (NUSC) defeated Mao Students’ Union (MSU) 2–1 to secure a place in the semifinals of the tournament.

NUSC’s forward Sanathoi Metei (jersey no. 12) proved decisive, scoring both goals for his side in the 22nd and 67th minutes, displaying clinical finishing and composure under pressure. MSU fought back, with Ngararsuing (no. 9) pulling one back in the 72nd minute, but it was too late to overturn the deficit, and MSU had to settle as the quarterfinalist.

For his outstanding performance and decisive goals, Sanathoi Metei was adjudged Player of the Match. The award was presented by Special Officer to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neibalie Rio, who graced the occasion as Match Patron.

With this victory, Nagaland United Sporting Club marches into the semifinals. They will face the winner of Anal LP or Kuki United on October 16.
