Nagaland’s Mesenipong Pongen has received the Santosh Jeevani National Award for 2025 in a ceremony held on 29 November at Dr. Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University in Lucknow.

The award, instituted in memory of Santosh Gupta and sponsored by her daughter Madhavi and son-in-law Subroto Gupta, honours individuals who have made notable contributions to advancing the lives of persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. It was presented during the National Confederation of Parents Organizations’ 31st National Parents’ Meet.

Pongen, a 21-year-old from Ungma Village who lives with cerebral palsy, has been recognised for his determination, strategic thinking, and leadership. He serves as the Managing Director of 7HEVEN Saramati Departmental Store, where he oversees business growth, human resource management, and customer value creation. He is also a board member of Saramati Electrical and Saramati Agri and Allied Cooperative Society. According to the citation, he has demonstrated a strong vision for inclusive and equitable societal development.

The award committee noted his achievements in promoting valued roles for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It stated that his efforts reflect dedication, compassion, and a commitment to fostering a more inclusive society.
