ALT demands resignation of the Chairman of Ceasefire Monitoring Group and Ceasefire Supervisory Board
The Ao Lanur Telongjem (ALT) and the Dimapur Ao Youth Organization (DAYO) have strongly condemned the alleged violent incident that took place on the night of December 15, 2025, at Aoyimkum village, Dimapur. Armed cadres of the NSCN-K (Khango/Vusshe faction) are accused of entering a private residence, firing gunshots inside the home, injuring one person, and abducting five individuals at gunpoint.
In a statement, the ALT described the alleged intrusion as a criminal act and expressed shock at how armed cadres could violate the jurisdiction of a government-recognized village, terrorizing occupants that included elderly parents, women, and children. The Ao youth organization said, “No explanation can justify such an action and therefore, must be condemned by one and all.”
ALT also criticized the continued lawlessness and lack of judicial action, pointing out that despite repeated incidents, perpetrators are rarely held accountable or booked under the National Security Act. The organization noted the distress caused to citizens who were preparing for Christmas and the New Year, adding that an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty has been sown due to these repeated violations.
The statement recalled a similar incident one year ago when a bona fide member and entrepreneur of ALT was targeted by the same Naga Political Group. ALT demanded urgent investigation and arrest of the culprits by the Dimapur Police and called for the resignation of the Chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Group and the Ceasefire Supervisory Board due to their failure to act on ceasefire violations. ALT warned it may mobilize community opinion and consider alternative actions if the situation remains unaddressed. The organization also expressed support for DAYO in its efforts to bring the accused to justice and appealed to other youth apex organizations and civil society groups in Nagaland to condemn the incident and adopt a collective non-cooperation stance against such groups.
Earlier, DAYO had expressed profound outrage over the alleged attack, describing it as a “heinous and cowardly” violation of human rights, highlighting the firing of several rounds inside a home with elderly parents, women, and children present, followed by the abduction of five individuals.
DAYO called the incident an “affront to the entire community” and stated that such terrorism and intimidation have no place in a civilized society. The organization also questioned the silence of the authorities regarding repeated ceasefire violations and reiterated its commitment to the safety and well-being of its members.
DAYO said it “stands firmly against such anti social elements and acts of terrorism and reaffirms that the safety and well-being of our members are of paramount importance.”
Both organizations urged the authorities to take swift action against those responsible to ensure justice.
