The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, has issued a notification informing that the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Zunheboto, will organise an Intra-District U-23 Football Tournament at the Public Ground, Zunheboto, from March 10 to March 14, 2026.
The tournament aims to promote sportsmanship and identify talented players for higher-level competitions. As per the guidelines issued by the organising committee, all seven constituencies under Zunheboto district must field one team each, with every team comprising 18 players and two officials. Participation from all seven teams is mandatory.
The district team for the state-level tournament will be selected based on performances in this tournament. Each participating team will receive a preparatory grant of Rs 50,000.
The prize structure includes Rs 75,000 along with certificates and a trophy for the winners, Rs 50,000 with certificates and a shield for the runners-up, Rs 25,000 each with certificates for both semi-finalists, and Rs 10,000 each with certificates for the three losing teams.
Accommodation arrangements will be managed by the respective teams at their own convenience. Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj, IAS, has urged all concerned authorities and sports associations to ensure full participation and the smooth conduct of the tournament. The event is expected to strengthen grassroots football in the district.
