The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has informed that weather conditions across Nagaland are expected to remain unstable from April 21 to 24, with widespread thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and intermittent rainfall likely in several districts.
According to the latest weather bulletin, localized thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected across most districts during the forecast period, while light to moderate rainfall is likely at scattered locations. Partly cloudy to overcast conditions are also expected intermittently.
The NSDMA stated that Longleng, Mokokchung and Mon districts are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, particularly on April 21. Mon district may receive heavy rainfall at most places.
It further informed that districts including Dimapur, Kohima, Peren, Wokha, Tuensang, Zunheboto and Tseminyu are likely to witness thunderstorms with lightning between April 21 and 24.
Gusty winds may accompany thunderstorms in several areas, posing risks to loose structures, trees and power lines, the authority stated.
Meanwhile, Kiphire and Meluri districts are not expected to receive significant weather warnings during most of the forecast period.
Weather activity is expected to be more intense during April 21 and 22, and is likely to gradually improve from April 23 onwards, with reduced warnings in many districts.
The NSDMA has advised citizens to stay updated through official alerts and encouraged the use of the Safer Nagaland App for real-time weather updates and information.
