The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, has issued a clarification regarding the Inner Line Permit (ILP) verification and awareness drive conducted on April 17, following confusion caused by viral social media posts.

According to an official statement by ADC Kohima, Ruopfükuotuo Noudi, the routine ILP drive was carried out across Kohima town. During the operation, several defaulters were identified and fined under the provisions of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873 (BEFR, 1873) in the presence of magistrates.

The clarification follows the online circulation of receipts bearing Serial Numbers 1010 and 1011, which included the names of defaulters and fine amounts. These posts led to widespread misunderstandings. The DC office clarified that Receipt No. 1010 was issued collectively to three individuals with a total fine of Rs 1,500, while Receipt No. 1011 covered two individuals with a total fine of Rs 1,000. These individuals were reportedly apprehended at a construction site near Classic Island in Kohima.

The individuals fined under Receipt No. 1010 include Joy Singh (35), Arson Enghi (18), and Welson Teron (26). Those under Receipt No. 1011 are Binush Chingthong (19) and Dilip Phangcho (20), all residents of Karbi Anglong, Assam, working as laborers.
