The International AIDS Candle Light Memorial Service was observed at Impur Baptist Church on 17 May 2026 under the theme “Light the Legacy: Remember. Advance. Act.”

The program was organised by DISHA in collaboration with YWCA Mokokchung and NMP+, with support from NACO and the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society.
The service was chaired by Amen Kichu, GS of IBC Youth Ministry, and began with an invocation by T Arenla Ao of YWCA. Rongsenmenla, President of YWCA, delivered the words of gratitude, while Dr Temjensangla Pongener spoke on the significance of the day.
A testimony was shared by representatives of NMP+, highlighting the lived experiences of people living with HIV. Rev Dr Akok Amer, Pastor of Impur Baptist Church, delivered the sermon, urging the congregation to respond to HIV-related stigma with compassion and understanding. Limawati, Youth Pastor, led the offering, while Toshirenla of APW (IBC) pronounced the benediction.
Following the service, a candlelight memorial was held outside the Centennial Hall, led by Roseline Mollier, Women Coordinator ABAMWM. More than 200 participants lit candles in memory of those who lost their lives to AIDS and in solidarity with people living with HIV.
The organisers emphasised the need to strengthen awareness, eliminate discrimination, and work collectively towards an HIV-free generation.
