Widespread non-compliance with 2025 guidelines across districts
The Office of the Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order), Nagaland, has ordered the closure or suspension of all coaching centres operating without registration under the “Guidelines for Registration and Regulation of Coaching Centres in the State of Nagaland 2025”.
The order comes in the wake of reported cases of abrupt closure of coaching centres in the State, which led to financial losses for students and inconvenience to parents, with some incidents also resulting in criminal cases being registered.
In the order, it stated that the State Government has notified the “Guidelines for Registration and Regulation of Coaching Centres in the State of Nagaland 2025” to regulate coaching institutions and ensure minimum infrastructure and safety standards while protecting the interests of students.
It further mentioned that vide office order No. PHQ/ADGP(L&O)/85/2025-26/214 dated May 15, 2026, a comprehensive status report was sought on all operational coaching centres across the State.
On review of reports received from districts, it was found that “most of the coaching centres are currently in operation without compliance” with the notified guidelines. It also noted that several centres do not possess valid trade licences, while others have only applied for or are under process of registration.
District-wise status of coaching centres
In Dimapur, coaching centres listed under “No Registration or blank remarks” include Sure Success Coaching Centre, Achievers, Potential Residential Centre, J. Achievers Academy and Edufy Institute. Centres under “applied for/under process” include Samarth Coaching, Aspire Academy, NPSC Mentors, Vega Coaching Institute, Imperial Coaching Centre, Epicentre Coaching, NS Singh NPSC, Aakash Institute and Eduversity.
In Kohima, centres under “No Registration or blank remarks” include Tachyon Coaching Institute, NPSC Mentors, Mahendra Coaching Centre, NPSC Guru and Discovery Civics Academy. Those under application include Toppers Academy, Powered Academy, Achievers Academy, Prep School for Civil Services, Imperial Coaching Centre, Epicentre Coaching Institute, Samarth Coaching Institute, Hickha Coaching Centre, Innovision Academy, Vega Coaching Institute and Momentum Institute.
In Longleng, Science Walla Coaching Centre and Achiever Coaching Centre were listed under no registration, while PRISM of Learning is under process.
In Mokokchung, Tuus Coaching Centre was listed under no registration.
In Mon, centres include Thrive & Spark Coaching Centre, Gnosis & Sophie Coaching Centre, Achievers Academy Coaching Centre and Ignite Coaching Centre.
In Peren, Kendeu Coaching Centre, Jalukie was listed without registration.
In Zunheboto, Study Point Coaching Centre, Alpha Coaching Centre and Epitome Coaching Centre were listed under no registration.
Order for closure
The order stated: “All operational coaching centres in the districts which do not possess valid registration under the ‘Guidelines for Registration and Regulation of Coaching Centres in the State of Nagaland 2025’ shall remain closed/suspended with immediate effect, till further orders.”
It further directed that District Unit Commanders shall ensure strict compliance and submit a compliance report within one week.
It also stated that coaching centres which have applied for registration may resume operations only after obtaining the requisite registration number and fulfilling all conditions laid down in the guidelines.
