The Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN), Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), has announced the imposition of what it termed as “Presidential Rule” in the Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) with immediate effect.
In a press release issued from Hebron on June 17, 2026, the group said the decision was taken by the Yaruiwo under powers vested under Article 3, Serial No. (viii) of the Yehzabo of Nagalim, vide Presidential Order Reference No. 13/GPRN/ORD-50/YO/26 dated June 16, 2026.
The order stated that the decision followed a review by the National Security Council, which assessed the prevailing situation in the region. It said a “breakdown of stability” had made normal regional administration unfeasible.
The release stated that a team of provisional authorities has been constituted to handle administrative responsibilities, with Major General (Retired) Ramkathing Varah, MM, MC, appointed as Convener.
It further stated that responsibilities earlier handled by the Kilo Ministry, as per a memo dated April 8, 2026, have now been transferred to the newly constituted team.
The arrangement will remain in force until normalcy is restored in the region, the statement said, adding that cooperation from civil society organisations, officials and citizens has been sought.
