The District Task Force on Immunization meeting was held on 19 June at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of ADC Mokokchung, Atsungba Walling.

Dr Limanaro, DPO (UIP & RCH), Mokokchung, presented the preparedness plan for the National Immunization Day and Pulse Polio Immunization Programme scheduled for 28 June 2026. She emphasized the importance of the District Microplan for the effective implementation of the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Programme.
She informed that on 28 June 2026, children aged 0 to 5 years will be administered polio drops at designated booths in their respective areas. From 29 to 30 June, health workers, ASHAs and Anganwadi Workers will carry out house to house visits, monitored by supervisors.
She stated that 186 polio booths will be set up and manned by health workers and volunteers. She also highlighted the ongoing “Stop Diarrhoea Campaign” with the slogan “Stop Diarrhoea, Save Lives,” which will continue till 31 July 2026, aiming for zero child deaths due to diarrhoea through increased ORS and zinc coverage.
She stressed the need for improved awareness on diarrhoea management, safe drinking water, sanitation and waste management, urging community participation. She also called on stakeholders to encourage eligible beneficiaries to receive HPV vaccination.
Dr M.A.H Azhar, SMO (WHO), presented updates on Global Wild Poliovirus status from 2018 to 2026, Vaccine Preventable Disease surveillance and routine immunization.
Chairing the meeting, ADC Atsungba Walling urged departments, stakeholders and NGOs to coordinate effectively for successful implementation of the programme. He also stressed the use of publicity, miking and social media for awareness and called for full cooperation with the Health and Family Welfare Department.
