Nagaland-based indie pop-rock band SunDay has released its debut original single, Maybe (Again), marking the group’s first official step into original music after years of performing together.

Nagaland indie band SunDay debuts with original single “Maybe (Again)”

The song, written by guitarist Imsuakum Kichu in 2022, was brought to the studio four years later and released in 2026. It was produced, mixed and mastered by Pongtsu Jamir in Nagaland.

According to the band, Maybe (Again) explores themes of longing, unspoken emotions and the experience of loving someone who can never truly be yours. Rather than focusing on dramatic heartbreak, the song reflects on lingering feelings and unanswered questions that often remain unspoken.

SunDay comprises vocalist Nukshijungla Kichu, guitarist Imsuakum Kichu and drummer Yathi Lemtur. The band says its members draw inspiration from different musical backgrounds, combining elements of indie pop and indie rock with an emphasis on emotional storytelling.

Before releasing original music, the trio spent several years performing together, developing the musical chemistry that now shapes their songwriting and live performances.

Explaining the band’s name, the members said “SunDay” represents new beginnings, expressing the hope that each song will create lasting memories and personal connections for listeners.

The band described Maybe (Again) as the first chapter of its musical journey. It is currently working on more singles, with plans to release an extended play (EP) followed by a full-length album.

Maybe (Again) is available on major streaming platforms, including Spotify and YouTube.
