The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Akuluto, has issued a travel advisory following damage to National Highway-702A at Lumami Village caused by incessant rainfall.
According to the advisory, the affected stretch on the Zunheboto–Mokokchung road will remain under traffic restrictions until further orders while restoration work is carried out.
Heavy vehicles, including loaded trucks, pick-up vehicles, buses and other commercial vehicles travelling between Mokokchung and Akuluto, have been diverted via the alternative route: Mokokchung–Longsa–Sapotimi–Zhekuto–Khuniho–Kholeboto–Suruhoto–Aichisaghemi–Naltoga–Asukhomi–Akuluto, and vice versa.
Light and passenger vehicles have been advised to use the upper approach road through Lumami Village, from the Centenary Monument to the LSE Kinimi Building, about 500 metres from the Lumami Village Gate, where traffic movement will be regulated.
The ADC has appealed to commuters to cooperate with the authorities, drive cautiously, follow traffic signages and comply with the instructions of officials deployed at the site. The public has also been urged to strictly adhere to the advisory in the interest of public safety.
