Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met Members of Parliament from Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh to review the flood situation in the two Northeastern states and said the Centre would continue working with their respective governments to address the challenges arising from the crisis.
The meeting came as both states continue to deal with the impact of heavy rainfall, floods and landslides that have caused loss of life and damage to property.
“Had a meeting with MPs from Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. We talked about the situation in these states in the wake of floods there. The Central Government will keep working with the respective state Governments to address the challenges,” Modi said in a post on X following the meeting.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, who was also present, said the Prime Minister had assured the MPs of full assistance and had issued necessary directions to ensure timely relief, restoration and support for affected people.
The meeting comes amid continued disruption caused by heavy rainfall and landslides in parts of Nagaland, with several areas facing damage to roads and other infrastructure.
