The 36th August Gold Cup Trophy, organised by Sey-Ong Club Tobu, commenced on August 4 at Tobu headquarters under Mon district. Former Minister and Vice President of COB NPF Nagaland, L. Shiakpong Konyak, graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Shiakpong thanked Sey-Ong Club Tobu for organising the tournament and providing a platform for youth to showcase their skills and pursue opportunities in sports over the past 36 years.
Highlighting the role of sports in developing discipline, teamwork and unity among youth, Shiakpong encouraged young players to make the best use of the tournament to build their careers and utilise the opportunities provided by the club.
He also appealed to area leaders to extend their cooperation and support towards promoting youth development in sports.
Earlier, K. T. Lehwang Konyak, Chairman of Sey-Ong Club Tobu, delivered the welcome address. Lehwang acknowledged the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) for approving the tournament under its aegis and providing technical support and guidance. He also thanked Youth Resources and Sports Advisor S. Keoshu Yimkhiung for providing sports equipment for the tournament.
Lehwang further expressed gratitude to MLA Naiba Konyak and Tobu SDPDB Chairman Nyamnyei Konyak for their support and assistance to the club.
