The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) today organised an Open State-Level Trial Selection-cum-High Performance Residential Training Camp in preparation for the National Games 2027 at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Viswema.

The two-month camp is being organised by the NWA in collaboration with the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) and the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland.
According to the NWA Media Cell, Er. Tepul Hopovi, president of the Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO), attended the launching programme as special guest. He stressed the importance of traditional values in games and sports and urged wrestlers to maintain discipline in their pursuit of excellence.
NWA president Vivolie Kezo delivered the keynote address, while NOA assistant secretary general Neivikuolie Khatsü also addressed the gathering.
NWA co-opted Technical Secretary Kikhwesul Thokhwe and Wrestling Head Coach, Khelo India Centre of Excellence, Virendra Kumar, conducted the technical briefing session.
A total of 48 wrestlers have registered for the camp and will undergo intensive training before the final selection trials. Professional coaches will oversee the training, which commenced on Friday.
The camp covers Senior Men’s Freestyle Wrestling, Senior Men’s Greco-Roman Wrestling and Senior Women’s Wrestling, with six weight categories in each discipline.
