Hanrenla K, Coordinator of the Education Block Resource Centre (EBRC), Pungro Block under Kiphire district, Nagaland, has been conferred the National Award for Innovation and Good Practices in Educational Administration by the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi.
Hanrenla was among 84 awardees from 22 States and Union Territories recognised for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 awards. The awards were presented by Padma Shri Prof J S Rajput, former Director of NCERT, and Prof Rama Shankar Dubey, Chancellor of NIEPA, during a national conference held in New Delhi on September 2 and 3.
The award recognises education officers who conceive and implement innovative practices in educational administration, with a focus on bringing greater visibility to grassroots initiatives that can strengthen education delivery. More than 300 nominations were received, from which 84 district and block-level officers were shortlisted and selected.
Hanrenla was recognised particularly for her innovative work in Pungro Block, including the establishment of hanging libraries aimed at improving access to reading materials and promoting learning among students.
The Lihpikihna Foundation, Kiphire, congratulated Hanrenla on the national recognition and acknowledged her contribution to advancing education in the district. The EBRC Office, Pungro, also congratulated her, describing the award as a recognition of her “dedication, innovative leadership, and commitment to educational excellence.”
The EBRC Office further appreciated her contributions to strengthening schools, supporting teachers and promoting effective educational practices, saying the recognition would inspire education personnel in Pungro Block to pursue greater dedication and excellence.
