A tribute song dedicated to legendary Indian footballer and Olympian Dr Talimeren Ao, popularly known as Dr T. Ao, was formally released in Mokokchung on Thursday.
The song was written by Supong Jamir and jointly composed by Jonathan Lemtur and Apang Aier. It was rendered by Apang Aier, Tajung and Susan.
The creators said the tribute was conceived to celebrate Dr T. Ao’s legacy and introduce his story to a younger generation. They said the song seeks not only to remember the footballer who represented India but also to inspire young people to pursue excellence in their respective fields.
The song was formally released by Amongba, grandnephew of Dr T. Ao. Speaking on the occasion, Amongba expressed appreciation to the songwriter and composers for the tribute. He said music could reach people across boundaries and expressed hope that the song would inspire listeners through Dr T. Ao’s enduring legacy.
The release programme was chaired by Rev Ngangnen, Pastor, Alempang Baptist Church, who also offered the dedicatory prayer.
The creators said the song seeks to keep alive Dr T. Ao’s legacy as a footballer and a symbol of determination, humility, discipline and excellence.
