The Dimapur District Congress Committee (DCC) observed a “Black Day” at Congress Bhavan, Dimapur, on October 8, condemning the alleged assault, detention and mistreatment of opposition leaders and demanding accountability from the Election Commission of India.

In a press statement, the DCC said the protest reaffirmed its “unwavering commitment” to protecting the Constitution, democratic rights and free and fair elections.
The committee said, “You may suppress our voices, but you cannot silence democracy.”
