The Department of Economic and Statistics, Nagaland, has revised the requirements for verification of delayed registration of births and deaths beyond one year, with the aim of streamlining and strengthening the verification process.
Under the revised requirements, applicants seeking delayed registration of birth beyond one year must produce at least two supporting documents as proof of the date and place of birth. These may include a hospital discharge slip or vaccination card, school records or HSLC admit card, government ID, driving licence, passport, pensioner card, Electors Photo Identity Card, PAN card, or certification from the Village Council chairman or ward councillor.
For non-indigenous applicants, the birth certificates of parents and an Inner Line Permit (ILP) will also be mandatory.
For delayed registration of death beyond one year, applicants must produce either a medical certificate stating the cause of death or certification from the Village Council chairman or ward councillor indicating the date of death.
The department has directed all District Chief Registrars of Births and Deaths, Registrars and other concerned authorities to ensure strict compliance with the notification, which has come into force with immediate effect.
