The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Wokha has reviewed the progress of the Wokha-Merapani road, with the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) assuring that the work would be completed by November 15, 2026.

The review was held during the board’s monthly meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall in Wokha on October 13, chaired by Advisor and DPDB Chairman Mhathung Yanthan, accompanied by MLA Mhonbemo Humtsoe, and co-chaired by Vice Chairman and Deputy Commissioner K. Mhathung Tsanglao.
NHIDCL officials presented updates on road maintenance, including drainage clearance, jungle cutting and pothole filling. Yanthan directed engineers and contractors to maintain quality standards and ensure proper workmanship.
The meeting also discussed poor signal reception of All India Radio Wokha and resolved to appeal to higher authorities for a full-fledged upgrade of the station. Preparations for upcoming departmental sports events were also discussed, with emphasis on participation and coordination.
The Education Department gave a presentation highlighting low enrolment in government schools, attributed largely to rural-to-urban migration, along with infrastructure gaps and other systemic challenges.
Yanthan stressed the importance of regular attendance and directed Sub-Divisional Officers, Block Development Officers and Border Magistrates to attend DPDB meetings consistently.
