Ao Senden has rejected the reply of the Department of Health and Family Welfare (DHFW) to its ultimatum over the shortage of a radiodiagnosis specialist at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung, announcing that it would take its own course of action from October 21.
In a letter dated October 17, addressed to the Principal Director of the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland, through the Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung, Ao Senden rejected “in toto” the reasons stated in the department’s reply dated October 15.
The Ao Senden stated that, through a notification dated August 19, 2026, a senior specialist radiologist from IMDH had been transferred to Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), while a junior specialist radiologist from District Hospital Phek had been transferred to IMDH.
Ao Senden said it had requested the department not to release the senior specialist radiologist until his replacement joined IMDH. The request was made through a letter dated August 24, but the specialist was subsequently released following a directive from the DHFW dated September 7.
The organisation maintained that the provision of a sonologist did not meet its demand, asserting that “nothing short of a Radiodiagnosis Specialist will be accepted at IMDH.”

It further stated that none of the demands contained in its ultimatum dated September 16 had been met to date.
Criticising the department’s response, Ao Senden said its attitude reflected a “theatre of superiority instead of service to the needy,” describing this as deplorable and contrary to the department’s purpose of providing healthcare to those in need.
The organisation consequently declared that it would take its own course of action from October 21. It also stated that the department would be held solely responsible for any untoward incident that might occur during the course of its action.
