Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav has called upon young people to exercise their voting rights with awareness and responsibility, emphasising that informed participation is essential to strengthening democracy and nation-building.

Addressing the Viksit Bharat Yuva Samvad–Know Your Vote at North East Christian University (NECU), Dimapur, on November 5, the Governor said voting was not merely an electoral choice but a responsibility towards society and the future of the country.
He described India as the world’s largest democracy and said its strength rested on active citizen participation. Referring to the constitutional principles of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, he described the right to vote as one of the most powerful instruments citizens possess in shaping the nation’s future.
Urging first-time voters to familiarise themselves with the electoral process, he encouraged them to make informed decisions based on facts, knowledge and democratic values rather than remain passive observers of national developments.
Speaking on the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, Yadav said the goal could not be achieved through government efforts alone and required the creativity, dedication and active participation of young people. He expressed confidence that Nagaland’s youth, with their talent and determination, would contribute to building a developed and inclusive India.
The Governor also appreciated MY Bharat for promoting youth leadership, volunteering and civic engagement, and congratulated Youth Icon Kepozo and Pencak Silat athlete Liike Kibami on their achievements, describing their journeys as an inspiration to others.
The programme was organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and MY Bharat. It also featured experiences shared by Kepozo and Kibami, cultural performances by NECU students and administration of the Loktantrik Pledge.
NECU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Darlando T. Khathing also addressed the gathering. The programme was chaired by Thounsinliu of NECU, while MY Bharat State Director, Nagaland, Alphonse Toppo, delivered the welcome address. District Youth Officer, MY Bharat, Dimapur, K.
